Cadets are unit members who are aged between 10 and 16 years. The cadets learn Basic First Aid, and play a vital role in the branch, as they are the future of the Red Cross. Cadets train weekly, both while doing the Basic First Aid course, and afterwards, to keep the level of skills up-to-date and progress to Intermediate First Aid level.
Our Cadets mix learning with fun, while learning the essential skills of First Aid. Discussions and practice sessions are intermingled with trips away, duty cover in our community and on our ambulance and other activities. They also follow the red cross "Options" programme which is similar to the "Gaisce" awards but is for younger people. There are three levels Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Our cadets participate in local and national competitions and have a history of doing exceedingly well. Each year the cadet section has the opportunity to go on our specially dedicated youth weekend. If you are interested in more information or would like to join Click Here.
